Oh there is a HUGE very noticable difference between 30 fps and 60 fps

The human eye does perceive a difference even in much smaller increments of time than 1/30 or 1/60th of a second, but this is unimportant to the conversation. Professional filmwork is done at 24fps, and often utilizes various blurring techniques to hide this. What this means is that a series of still images sequentially shown to us 24 times a second is perceived as motion. Therefore, a locked 30 frames is seen as motion just fine. When motion interpolation became a big thing for TVs, people started noticing a "soap opera effect" even on professional movies that were interpolated to 60 frames. This is, of course, because we got closer to the action, closer to perceiving it without the lens. We only need about 30 steady frames to perceive it as motion, but the more frames we get the closer to reality it appears to our brains. Therefore, both sides are dumb for fighting about it.

I belived it when I was a console guy (my PC was shit at the time so PS3 was my only way of playing new titles). I never really saw it, untill I upgraded and started playing my PC full time. Then when I got back to my console to play some GTA V it seriously felt like a power point presentation to me, such low FPS. If you play a lot of games with a smooth 120 FPS you'll see the difference that 60FPS would feel like shit. It's just a matter of getting used to it

The human eye is capable of reacting to visual signals in less than 1ms, and a 1ms response translates to 1000 fps. Modern video technology is not capable of matching the eye's physical ability to perceive motion, currently topping out at only 240fps on commercially available screens. 60fps content (as opposed to slower content on a 60fps screen) looks much better and smoother, but the average person can easily tell the difference between 60fps and reality when the two are compared side by side. Although 24-30 fps is sufficient to give the impression of motion, it also gives many people headaches after extended viewing.

Now to the facts: The Human eye can tehoretically go to over 250 fps, but it depends on how much info your eyes see. If you keep 1 ball rolling up in a pc simulation and everything else is black, you can see over 60 fps, but if you take Information in the wild, where is a lot of information to cover, you won't come over 30 fps. It is like changing a lense.

Seriously though.. who came up with 30fps limit anyway? Have you ever try to watch a classic movie they play on the 60fps tv's at the electronic store? I dont really like it. Kills the mood.

Go to any game you can run at 60 fps and play it, then lower the settings to cap at 30 fps, instant difference
